COLLABORATIONS AND COMMISSIONS

Collaborations with father Charlie Brouwer

Sculptor Charlie Brouwer and painter Jennifer Collins realized in 1998, when they exhibited together for the first time, that there was a meaningful relationship between their work, which they decided to explore further. This relationship flows naturally from the fact that they are father and daughter and share a common aesthetic. They have continued to exhibit together and occasionally collaborate in individual works combining wood sculpture relief and oil painting. Their collaborative pieces have taken the form of both small, intimate works and large scale commissions.
Recent large scales commissioned collaborations include an installation for Carilion Saint Albans Behavioral Health in Montgomery County, Virginia and a piece designed for a library at Blacksburg Presbyterian Church in Blacksburg, Virginia.

Commissions by Jennifer

In addition to the collaborative commissions Jennifer has done with her father, she also creates commissioned landscapes for people’s homes. In her own unique style, she works with clients who are interested in commemorating a special place in an oil painting.
